POST RIDE YOGA STRETCHES
JOIN SA FREEDIVING CHAMPION & CONVERTED MOUNTAIN BIKER, HANLI PRINSLOO FOR SOME POST RIDE YOGA STRETHCES AT THIS YEARS WINES2WHALES WITH KTM BIKE INDUSTRIES
Cycling is one of the best forms of cardiovascular conditioning and strength training, working the biggest muscle groups in the body at high intensity and repetition. The quadriceps, hamstrings, and hips never rest and as a result, riders often have overdeveloped quadriceps and tight hamstrings, which can pull the hips out of alignment. A cyclist's spine is also constantly flexed forward and if the proper form isn't maintained, it can result in muscle pain and strain in the back and shoulders.
Making sure to stretch out these well-used hamstrings, quadriceps and gluteus muscles while strengthening the less used but much needed core and back muscles, stretching with KTM and Hanli after every day 1 and day 2 of this year’s Wines2Whales will help you stretch out those tight muscles after everyday’s ride.
Hanli Prinsloo has been practising Yoga for over ten years as part of her Freediving training. Hanli is a certified Vinyasa / Ashtanga Yoga instructor (Yoga Alliance) and has trained a wide range of athletes from surfers to rugby players, cyclists and climbers. Come clear your mind after a tough days riding as Hanli works on your flexibility, mental clarity and relaxation.
The post ride stretching will be on day 1 and day 2 at the KTM X-star tent and there will be 2 sessions, one starting at 16:00 and the second at 16:30. Remember this will be at the W2W Adventure and the Race.
There are limited yoga mats available (20) so be there on time and/or bring your towel and join Hanli in this free yoga stretching session.
